Memorial Day is Monday, May 29
Memorial Day is a federal holiday in the United States for remembering the people who died while serving in our country's armed forces. The holiday, which is currently observed every year on the last Monday of May, originated as Decoration Day after the American Civil War in 1868. There will be a Memorial Day service at the Grass Lake Veteran's Memorial next to the library on Monday beginning at 10:00 AM, followed by a procession to the east cemetery on E. Michigan Avenue across from the Pious Union Church for a recognition of veterans.

Junior Warriors Girls Basketball Skills Training Announced
Registration is beginning for this summer's Junior Warrior Basketball Summer Skills Training dates for girls going into the first through 8th grades this fall. Go to for information on dates, times, locations, costs, and registration instructions. Registration deadline is June 1, 2017. All participants must register in advance. There will be no registrations at the door.

Cabana Earns Academic All-State Status
Girls basketball players across the state of Michigan were honored for their success in the classroom as the Basketball Coaches Association of Michigan released its list of individual academic all-state players for the 2016-17 season. Grass Lake High School Senior Gracie Cabana joins this team with her 3.83 GPA. Well done Gracie!

Lady Warriors Make Academic Accomplishment
Our Varsity Lady Warrior basketball team continues to be lauded; this time for the team members' academic accomplishments. The team has been honorably mention in the list of Class C's highest team grade point average for the 2016-2017 basketball season with a 3.55 overall composite grade point average. Well done Lady Warriors!
Lady Warrior Basketball Players Named to "Dream Team"
Congratulations to our 2016-2017 Lady Warrior basketball players and Coach Cabana who have been named to MLive's Jackson All-Area Dream basketball team. Coach of the Year - Andrea Cabana; First Team - Gracie Cabana; Second Team - Abby Niehaus; Honorable Mention - Jillian Fullerton, Justice Ruggles, Ella Suliman.
Gracie Cabana Named JTV's Female Basketball Player of the Year
Congratulations to Grass Lake High School senior Gracie Cabana for being named JTV's Girls Basketball Player of the Year. We wish Gracie well as she completes her senior year and prepares to attend Spring Arbor University to continue her studies and play basketball. JTV posted a highlight film of Gracie Cabana in honor of her being named as JTV's Girls Basketball Player of the Year.
Coach Cabana and Gracie Cabana Named to AP All-State Team
The Associated Press has just announced its Class C Girls All-State Basketball team for the 2016-2017 season. Coach Andrea Cabana was named as the All-State Second Team Coach, and Gracie Cabana was Honorably Mentioned to the All-State team. Congratulations to Coach Cabana and Gracie for this recognition of their hard work and great success throughout this season. Go to to see the listing of the entire team.
Abby Niehaus Reaches 600 Rebound Plateau for Career
Congratulations to Grass Lake High School Senior for accomplishing the outstanding achievement of gathering 600 rebounds over her varsity basketball career. This achievement was attained only through hard work, consistency, persistence, and skill. Well done Abby!

Lady Warriors End Fantastic Season
Our Lady Warriors Varsity basketball team's bid for a regional championship fell short last night, 56-49, but not after a huge effort in a double overtime game. We are so proud of this team's accomplishments and how they represented Grass Lake throughout the season. We look forward to their continued successes as they progress through the remainder of the school year. Thank you to our coaches for their leadership, and our fans for their loyal support. Well done Lady Warriors!
Lady Warriors Advance to Regional Finals
Congratulations to our Varsity Girls Basketball team for their 46-12 victory over Ann Arbor Greenhills during their MHSAA Regional Semi-finals game. This victory moves the Lady Warriors into the regional finals where they will play Blissfield for the title. The game will be played at Adrian Madison on Thursday, March 9, at 7:00 PM. Go Lady Warriors! SCHEDULING NOTE: THE DOORS AT ADRIAN MADISON WILL NOT OPEN FOR SPECTATORS UNTIL 6:00 PM.

Congratulations to our Varsity Girls Basketball team for their 46-37 victory over an excellent Adrian Madison squad, and for bringing home a DISTRICT CHAMPIONSHIP. The team will now move on to Regionals being held at Adrian Madison where they will be playing Ann Arbor Greenhills in the semi-final round on Tuesday, March 7, at 7:00 PM. Lady Warriors Move On To District Finals
Congratulations to our Grass Lake Varsity Girls Basketball team for their 54-21 victory over Clinton in the MHSAA District Tournament semi-finals on Wednesday, March 1. This victory allows them to move on to the District Finals this Friday, March 3, at Manchester. The Lady Warriors will be playing Adrian Madison, who defeated Addison 41-27 in their half of the semi-finals. The District Finals game will begin at 7:00 PM. Go Lady Warriors!
Lady Warrior Season Reviewed
JTV posted a review of our Lady Warriors exciting 2016-2017 basketball campaign, while mentioning the upcoming MHSAA Districts that will begin on Monday, February 27, at 7:00 PM, at Manchester as the Lady Warriors attempt to defeat the Lady Dutch for a third time this season. Go Lady Warriors!
With two regular season games remaining in the Lady Warriors' 2016-2017 basketball season, they now claim single ownership of the Cascades Conference Championship. The Lady Warriors defeated Manchester at Manchester Thursday night by a score of 59-55. Congratulations ladies! You make us all very proud to be Warriors! We wish you continued success as you progress through the remainder of your season. The Lady Warriors' next game is Tuesday, February 21, when they will host Blissfield. Go Warriors!

Reaching the 1,000 point plateau for any basketball player is a dream that most never accomplish. We are proud that Gracie has surpassed the plateau with humility, hard work, and in the company of long-time teammates.
Cabana Surpasses 1,000 Point Plateau
On Tuesday night, January 31, the Lady Warriors Varsity Basketball Team defeated Reading by a score of 61 to 18. The team was led by four year varsity starter Gracie Cabana's 17 point effort. During the game Gracie surpassed the 1,000 point mark for her career as a Grass Lake Warrior. Gracie plans on continuing her basketball career after graduation at Spring Arbor University. Well done Gracie! We wish you and your team continued success as you progress through this season. Go Warriors!
Jillian Fullerton Signs to Play with Jackson College
Congratulations to Grass Lake Senior Jillian Fullerton for signing with Jackson College to play basketball during the 2017-2018 school year. We wish her continued success as she completes her Senior year at Grass Lake and prepares for her first collegiate season. Jillian joins three other Grass Lake female athletes who have signed with colleges to continue to display their talents at the next level.
